Information

Here is some useful information about fashion nails and the processes I use.

HEMA-free

I strive to use HEMA-free products whenever possible. However, certain specific products or colours you request may not be available in HEMA-free formulations.

HEMA-free nail products are a safer and gentler alternative for those with sensitive skin or allergies. HEMA (hydroxyethyl methacrylate) is a common ingredient in many nail polishes, gels, and adhesives, known for its strong adhesion properties. However, it can sometimes cause skin irritation, redness, itching, or allergic reactions, especially with repeated exposure or improper application. By choosing HEMA-free products, you reduce the risk of these reactions, ensuring a more comfortable and worry-free nail experience. These formulations are designed to be kinder to your skin and nails while still delivering beautiful, long-lasting results. HEMA-free options are ideal for individuals with sensitivities or anyone looking to prioritize their nail health.

Acrylic Nails

Acrylic nails are artificial nail enhancements made by combining a liquid monomer (usually ethyl methacrylate) with a powder polymer to create a malleable substance. This substance is then applied to the natural nail or a nail extension (tip), where it hardens and forms a durable and sturdy layer. They are a popular choice for enhancing the appearance of nails, adding length, and creating intricate designs.

Acrylic nails are durable, versatile, and help protect natural nails. With regular infills every 2-3 weeks, they remain long-lasting while maintaining nail health. Professional removal is essential to avoid trauma or damage to the nail bed.

Process

  1. Clean and Prep nails and cuticles
  2. Tips are applied (optional)
  3. Prime and dehydrate
  4. Apply acrylic
  5. File, shape and buff
  6. Gel polish / design to complete desired look
  7. Cuticle oil and hand cream

Builder-Gel

The process should typically take no longer than 2 hours, added art/design will add time to your appointment
Builder gel is a more modern alternative to acrylic nails, offering a lightweight, flexible, and natural-looking finish. Unlike acrylics, which rely on mixing liquid monomer and powder polymer with a strong chemical odor, builder gel is a low-odor gel-based product that cures under UV or LED light. It is self-leveling, easier to apply, and gentler on natural nails, making it ideal for overlays and moderate extensions for a more “natural” look. While acrylics are extremely hard and durable, they can feel heavier whereas builder gel provides strength with flexibility, reducing the risk of lifting or breakage. Builder gel is also easier to maintain and remove, making it a more user-friendly option.

Process

  1. Clean and prep nails and cuticles
  2. Tips are applied (optional)
  3. Shape nails
  4. Builder-gel is applied (In a 3 step process) cured under UV for 1 minute
  5. File shape and buff
  6. Apply Gel polish / design to complete desired look
  7. Clean any sticky residue
  8. Cuticle oil and hand cream

Manicure and Polish

A basic manicure with a gel polish finish is a simple nail care treatment that cleans, shapes, and enhances the appearance of natural nails, topped with a durable, glossy gel polish. The process typically includes the following steps:

Process

  1. Clean hands and prep nails and cuticles
  2. Buff and apply basecoat for Gel Polish (cured under UV for 1 Minute
  3. Apply 2 layers of Gel Polish with a Top-Coat to finish
  4. Cuticle oil and hand cream

Pedicure

A pedicure with luxury spa with a massage chair is a relaxing and indulgent foot care treatment that combines nail grooming, skin care, and soothing massage for the ultimate pampering experience. Here’s what to expect:

  • Sit in a plush massage chair with adjustable settings for back and neck relaxation.
  • Soak feet in a warm, aromatic foot bath to soften skin and relax muscles.
  • Exfoliate feet with a scrub to remove dead skin and smooth rough areas.
  • Trim, shape, and file nails, and push back or trim cuticles.
  • Enjoy a foot and lower leg massage with lotion or oil to hydrate and relax.
  • Apply an optional mask or paraffin wax treatment for extra softness.
  • Polish nails with your choice of color or buff them to a natural shine.
  • Finish with cuticle oil and a final wipe-down, leaving feet refreshed and pampered.

Infills

An infill is a maintenance process for acrylic, gel, or builder gel nails to fill in the gap that appears as the natural nails grow out. It restores the nails’ appearance and strengthens the enhancements without needing a full removal. These are typically for nails with 2–3-week nail growth

Soak off

An acrylic soak-off is a process used to safely remove acrylic nails without causing damage to the natural nails.

Process

  1. Clean hands and remove any polish from the acrylic nails.
  2. Clip the acrylic nails as short as possible.
  3. File or buff the surface of the acrylic to break the seal.
  4. Apply pure acetone using one of two methods: soak nails in a bowl of acetone or wrap them with acetone-soaked cotton balls and foil.
  5. Leave the acetone on for 15-20 minutes to soften the acrylic.
  6. Gently scrape off the softened acrylic with an orangewood stick or metal pusher.
  7. Repeat the soaking and scraping process if needed to remove all acrylic.
  8. Buff the natural nails to remove residue and smooth the surface.
  9. Apply cuticle oil and hand cream to rehydrate nails and skin.
